NTPC to Install Rooftop Solar Plants Across CISF Campuses in 11 States

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has entered into a power purchase agreement (PPA) with NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam (NVVN) to enhance its renewable energy footprint by installing 3,281 KW of rooftop solar power plants across 16 CISF campuses in 11 states. The project is expected to be completed by 31 October, 2025. This initiative is part of the government’s push for energy sustainability and green development.

Currently, CISF has 1,990 KW of solar power capacity installed across four campuses: RTC Arakkonam (Tamil Nadu), Mahipalpur Campus (Delhi), RTC Behror (Rajasthan), and 8th RB Jaipur (Rajasthan). Upon completion of the new installations, CISF’s total solar capacity will rise to 5,271 KW. The additional solar power generation is expected to significantly reduce carbon footprints while promoting the use of clean energy.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has assigned NVVN the responsibility of implementing the project under the RESCO model. This model ensures the installation, operation, and maintenance of rooftop solar power systems without any upfront capital expenditure from CISF. NVVN will cover all capital costs, while CISF will pay for the electricity generated at a pre-agreed tariff over the 25-year duration of the agreement.

The new rooftop solar installations will be set up across 11 states - Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Bihar, Gujarat, Odisha, and Telangana.
