Iraq Starts Drilling Well No. 100 at East Baghdad Field

In line with the government's program, and in implementation of the directives of the Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs, Minister of Oil, expert engineer Hayan Abdul Ghani Al-Sawad, to enhance production and maximize oil resources, the Middle Oil Company and the (EBS) Company, the operator of the East Baghdad field in the southern region, celebrated the start of drilling Well No. 100, which represents a qualitative leap in the development of Iraqi oil fields.

 

This project is distinguished by being the first well to be drilled horizontally in the Saadi reservoir inside the field, using modern technologies. The technical specifications of the project indicate that the total targeted depth of the well is (3705) m, with the horizontal section extending inside the Saadi reservoir for a distance of (1200) m, and it is hoped that drilling operations will be completed within a record period of time not exceeding (52) days.

 

This advanced step comes with direct follow-up from the Director General of the Middle Oil Company, Mr. Muhammad Yassin Hassan, to achieve a qualitative leap in the field's oil production rates, which enhances the Ministry of Oil's plans to develop the oil sector.
