Punjab Government Mulls Setting Up 66 Solar Power Plants

The Punjab government is mulling the setting up of 66 solar power plants, each with a capacity of 4 MW, as stated by state Minister of New and Renewable Energy Sources, Aman Arora.

 

The Minister along with Power Minister Harbhajan Singh, chaired a meeting with senior officers from the departments of new and renewable energy sources, power and the Punjab Development Commission to discuss strategies for the clean energy project. Upon completion, the project is expected to generate approx. 390 million units (MU) of electricity annually.

 

By implementing feeder-level solarization, it is expected to result in annual savings of around Rs 136 crore. This endeavour will attract investment of around Rs 1,056 crore to the state, generating job opportunities for both skilled and semi-skilled individuals.
