Tecnimont, NEXTCHEM Launch GAIL’s First Green Hydrogen Plant in India

Tecnimont Private Limited, an Indian subsidiary of Tecnimont, along with NEXTCHEM, has inaugurated the first green hydrogen production plant for GAIL(India) Limited at Vijaipur, Madhya Pradesh.

The facility will produce 4.3 tons per day of green hydrogen using a 10-megawatt electrolysis unit, marking GAIL as the first company in India to begin megawatt-scale green hydrogen production.

Awarded in May 2022, the project supports India's National Green Hydrogen Mission, which aims to achieve at least 5 million tons of annual green hydrogen production capacity by 2030.

This initiative is part of India's broader goals to become energy independent by 2047 and to achieve Net Zero by 2070. Green hydrogen is seen as a key component of the energy transition, offering applications in renewable energy storage, industrial fuel replacement, clean transportation, decentralized power generation, and more.
