Adani begins Commercial Production of Wafer, Ingots at its Gujarat Factory

Adani Group has begun commercial production of wafer and ingots used for making solar power cells and modules at its factory in Gujarat. It further aims to make polysilicon in 2027/28 which will elevate its position to becoming India's first integrated renewable energy (RE) player.

The Group aims to generate 45 GW of renewable power by 2030, and two-thirds of this is being produced at its USD 18.01 billion Khavda RE park in Gujarat. Currently, polysilicon is imported for making ingots which are converted into thin sheets called wafer, to finally make solar power cells.

Adani Group is setting up a hub at the port city of Mundra and will invest more than Rs 300 billion (USD 3.60 billion) for expanding its solar cell and wind turbine making capacities. Expansion of renewable energy aligns with the goal of India becoming a net-carbon zero country by 2070.
