Ampin Inks Solar Deal With Amazon

Indian renewable energy platform AmpIn Energy Transition has unveiled an arrangement with Amazon Web Services (AWS) for the supply of green power from a 100-MW solar park in Rajasthan.

The unit of e-commerce giant Amazon.com Inc will receive electricity from a photovoltaic (PV) farm in Bhadla that was brought online at the end of 2023, AmpIn said in a LinkedIn post on Wednesday. According to the developer, the project is the first Inter State Transmission System (ISTS)-connected park with a long-term commercial and industrial offtaker in India.

AmpIn, formerly Amp Energy India, installed the PV farm across 580 acres (234.7 ha) of land, using single-axis tracking technology. The company estimates that the plant’s generation will help save almost six million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.

"Partnering with Amazon on this landmark project underscores our commitment to drive the renewable energy transition [..],” said Pinaki Bhattacharyya, CEO of AmpIn.

The Indian firm noted it is developing 1 GW of utility-scale solar projects in Rajasthan.
