NTPC, NRL Aim to Explore Partnership for Bamboo-based Bio-Refinery

NTPC Limited, India’s largest integrated power utility, formalized a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL), a subsidiary of Oil India Ltd involved in the refining and marketing of petroleum products. This strategic collaboration aims to explore partnership opportunities in the development of a bamboo-based Bio-Refinery at NTPC Bongaigaon, along with other environmentally conscious initiatives.

 

Through this MoU, the two Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) express their joint commitment to expanding their presence in the realm of green chemicals and venturing into sustainable solutions. The primary goal is to contribute to the nation’s ambitious Net-Zero targets while actively participating in the development of the North-East Region.

 

The signing ceremony witnessed the presence of notable figures, including Shri Gurdeep Singh, CMD NTPC, Dr. Ranjit Rath, CMD OIL, and Chairman NRL, along with Shri Bhaskar Jyoti Phukan, MD NRL. NTPC, in alignment with its commitment to achieving 60 GW of Renewable Energy capacity by 2032, aims to become a significant player in the Green Hydrogen and Energy Storage domain. The company is spearheading various initiatives focused on decarbonization, encompassing Green Hydrogen, Biofuels, Carbon Capture, and Hydrogen Mobility.
