Maharashtra Govt Inks 7 MoUs for Green Hydrogen Projects

The Maharashtra government signed seven memorandum of understanding (MoUs) for green hydrogen projects, amounting to a total investment of Rs 2,76,300 crore on 29 January, 2024.

 

Additionally, an MoU has been signed with ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel for setting up a steel plant with an investment of Rs 40,000 crore, creating 20,000 employment opportunities. The plant will get an additional 6 million tonne per annum (tpa).

 

The MoUs entail collaborations with various companies, including NTPC Green Energy, JSW Energy, AVAADA Green Hydrogen, Bafna Solar and Infra, ReNew eFuels, Welspun Godavari GH2, INOX Air Products, and L&T Green Energy Tech. The green hydrogen projects aim to generate 910 kilo tonne per annum (KTPA) of green energy, creating employment opportunities for about 63,900 individuals.

 

Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis highlighted the state's green hydrogen policy, which garnered positive responses from seven leading companies. The state had signed MoUs worth Rs 3.53 lakh crore in the World Economic Forum at Davos and the state has the infrastructure to sustain more investments. The function was held in Sahyadri guesthouse.
