Local and International contractors express interest in 3.7GW Saudi solar projects

Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC) has pre-qualified 23 utility project developers for the fifth round of Ministry of Energy's solar projects coming up across the kingdom with a total capacity of 3700 MW. 
 

The pre-qualified bidders include international contractors including Marubeni, Sumitomo, Itochu and Jera of Japan, EDF and Total Energies of France, Samsung C&T Corporation and Korea Electric Power Corporation from Korea, GEK Terna of Grease, Spic Huanghe Hydropower Development, Power Construction Corporation of China, and Jinko Power (Hong Kong) and B. Grimm Power and Gulf Energy Development Public Company of Thailand.   
 

The local contractors includes Alfanar, Saudi Electricity Company, FAS Energy, Nesma Renewable Energy and  Al Jomaih Energy & Water Company.
 

Other contractors included Kahrabel, Masdar, and BGL Renewable Energy Systems from UAE and Qatari group Nebras Power.
 

The Project scope comprise of:

2000MWac capacity Al Sadawi IPP to be located in the Eastern province

1000MWac Al Masa’a IPP in Hail province

400MWac Al Henakiyah 2 IPP in Madinah province and

300MWac Rabigh 2 IPP in the Makkah Province.  
 

These projects are part of NREP, which aims to achieve the optimal energy mix, displacing liquid fuels in the Kingdom’s power sector and supply 50% of its electricity from renewable energy by 2030. SPPC  will be responsible for the pre-development, and development of the project.
