The Environment Ministry has accorded environment clearance to Hindustan Petroleum Corporation’s (HPCL’s) expansion plan.
The company proposes to expand the capacity of its Mumbai refinery from 7.5 million tpa to 9.5 million tpa, including the propylene recovery unit (PRU), and to upgrade its existing captive power plant (CPP).
The project will entail an investment of Rs 3,846 crore, of which Rs 3,223.43 crore will be towards refinery expansion & PRU and Rs 622.45 crore will be towards revamping of the CPP.
All new facilities will be developed within the refinery premises of 2.1 acre and the project will be completed within 36 months. The EC accorded to the company is subject to some conditions.
