Centre to Develop Ultra-mega Renewable Energy Parks of 50 GW in Gujarat, Rajasthan

The Centre will develop ultra-mega renewable energy parks of a total of 50 GW in the states of Gujarat and Rajasthan.

This can be the world’s largest renewable energy investment programme. Land will be made available for setting up solar, wind and wind hybrid plants and the proposed parks have necessary clearances from the state governments and the Defence Ministry.

The ministry has identified Khavada in Gujarat and Jaisalmer in Rajasthan for setting up renewable energy parks of 25,000 MW each.

The Power Ministry will be requested to strengthen transmission to these locations within 24 months for evacuation of power from these parks. The government is already working on a 50 GW battery storage manufacturing plan.
