Acciona takes Measures for Smooth Operation of Mideast Projects

Acciona, a leading supplier of sustainable infrastructure solutions and renewable energy projects, said it is taking all precautionary measures against Covid-19 for smooth operations of its projects in the Middle East region in close collaboration with its clients including implementing the 'work from home' policy whenever possible.

Acciona pointed out that its paramount commitment was towards safety under the new circumstances.

"As part of its efforts to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus, we have put together specific protocols at our offices and at the project sites in line with the recommendations and best practices worldwide," said a company spokesman for the Spanish group.

These may include providing construction workers on-site with the corresponding personal protective equipment (PPE) in addition to the usual safety gear as well as advising and informing of the extended social distancing guidelines, he stated.

Acciona has increased the number of labour buses, when practicable, in order to significantly reduce the occupancy to safer ratios besides implementing supplementary disinfection procedures to ensure the welfare of its workers.

"We are working in reducing the sharing of equipment and machinery by our workers. Also we have launched awareness campaigns on Covid-19 besides doubling our efforts to sanitise and maintain proper clean surfaces and areas within our work centers," said the spokesman.

Acciona has announced that it is implementing incentives in the form of economic coverage made available to all its employees who undergo hospitalisation due to Covid-19 between March 31, 2020 to April 1, 2021.

"Specifically, from the sixth day of admission into the hospital, the employee will receive a daily compensation of €100 ($108.4) per day up to a maximum of 10 payables days," said the spokesman.

"In addition, upon discharge from the hospital, the employee will also receive a one-time recovery compensation of €3,000 ($3,253). This extraordinary measure will be assumed by the President and the Vice-President of Acciona," he added.
