India: Indu Shekhar Chaturvedi is New MNRE Secretary; Tarun Kapoor gets Oil & Gas

In a major bureaucratic reshuffle announced on 27 April, the government has appointed Indu Shekhar Chaturvedi as the new Secretary of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE). Chaturvedi will replace Anand Kumar who has been shifted to the Ministry of Culture.

 

The government has also appointed Tarun Kapoor, currently the Vice Chairman of Delhi Development Authority, as Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas. Tarun Bajaj, an Additional Secretary in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) has been appointed as Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs in the finance ministry.

 

The reshuffle also saw Rajesh Verma getting the corporate affairs portfolio and R P Gupta getting appointed as the new Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC).

 

The Union Cabinet has also approved the appointment of Sanjeev Ranjan, Secretary, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, as Secretary Ministry of Shipping; and P K Tripathi, currently a Special Secretary in the Department of Personnel and Training as steel secretary.
