Tata Chemicals to Invest Rs 2,100cr for Capacity Expansion

Tata Chemicals, a part of Tata Group has lined up capital investment of Rs 2,100 crore in the next three years.

 

The investment will be made towards expansion of salt making capacity by 50 percent and soda ash capacity by 25 percent besides various other bi-products.

 

The capacity expansion of Mithapur plant (Bihar) is underway as planned, while the Nellore unit is on track and is in the final stage of commissioning.

 

Apart from this, the Cuddalore plant (Tamil Nadu) is expected to start commercial production of specialty silica in the first half of FY20.

 

The company has also decided to allot GBP 50 million to set up a new bicarbonate plant using carbon capture technology in UK to offset its pension liabilities of GBP 80 million. The UK government has agreed to contribute GBP four million for the plant.
