Kuwait Oil Tanker Co Plans to Add 8 New Vessels to Fleet

Kuwait Oil Tanker Company (KOTC) plans to add new eight LNG, crude and petroleum tankers to its fleet by early 2021 as part of a modernization drive to fulfill demand from Kuwait Petroleum Company.

New tankers ordered include three giant LNG tankers to be constructed by Korea’s Hyundai Heavy Industries Company (HHI) and the construction of four medium oil tankers by Hyundai Mipo Drydocks, the Kuwaiti company said.

Additionally, one very large crude carrier will be built by China’s Bohai Shipbuilding and Heavy Industries.

The announcement came at the naming ceremony of KOTC’s two LPG carriers built by HHI; the first will be delivered in this month and the second in January 2020.
