Qatar Petroleum in Energy Cooperation Discussion with Japan

The president and CEO of Qatar Petroleum recently visited Japan where he addressed the 8th LNG Producer-Consumer Conference in Tokyo and held discussions with leading Japanese energy companies.

 

Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, Minister of State for Energy Affairs, held meetings with CEOs and senior executives of various Japanese customers and business partners representing LNG and hydrocarbon products buyers, shareholders in Qatari projects, financial institutions, shipping companies, contractors and other stakeholders including JERA, Kansai Electric, Chubu Electric, Mitsui, Marubeni, Itochu, Idemitsu, Cosmo, LNG Japan, Iwatani, Mitsubishi, JGC, Chiyoda, Sumitomo, MUFG, Japan Bank for International Cooperation, Mizuho, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, and a number of shipping companies.

 

Speaking at the annual Qatargas reception in honour of Japanese companies, Al-Kaabi said: “This occasion represents a perfect opportunity to reflect on our long-standing relationship, appreciate the strength of our relationship, and celebrate our friendship, achievements and successes.”

 

“I would like to take this opportunity to emphasize the importance of Japan as a cornerstone LNG market and that Japan will remain a priority for us as we expand our production and our customer base.

 

“We look forward to working with you to extend our relationship for many decades to come,” Al-Kaabi concluded.
