Eaton Bags Kuwait University Power Project Contract

Leading power management company Eaton said it had been awarded a major contract to provide complete power distribution solutions for the administration facility at Kuwait University’s Sabah Al-Salem University City in Kuwait.

The Sabah Al Salem University City is being masterplanned as one of the largest campuses in the world with top-class educational facilities equipped with most advanced teaching and learning resources.

The administrative unit at Kuwait University serves as the main gateway to the new campus which boasts seven buildings including cultural and convocation hall, conference centre, university library and visitor centre.

A grand mosque within the university premises will house the chief administrative and ceremonial functions of the campus, serving the needs of a student population of 40,000, faculty, administrators and visitors.

Eaton is working alongside key partner Sahara Combined General Trading & Contracting Company for the project being built by a joint venture of China State Construction Company (Middle East) and Al Ghanim International Company.

A global leader with expertise in power distribution and circuit protection, Eaton specializes in back-up power protection; control and automation; lighting and security; structural solutions and wiring devices; solutions for harsh and hazardous environments; and engineering services.

As per the deal, Eaton will be providing complete xEnergy LV Systems, Power Distribution Components and Industrial Control solutions for the prestigious Administration facility.

“This is a great opportunity for us to showcase once again Eaton’s capabilities on a regional and international scale in executing large and complex projects such as the impressive Administration Facility at the University City,” remarked Frank Ackland, the general manager, Eaton Middle East.

"Kuwait is one of our key markets where we have had a great legacy for over two decades and supplied solutions across many infrastructures in the country," he noted.

Eaton, he stated, is an industry leader in product solutions with safety-conscious design and installation that comply with the latest industry codes and standards.

"Low-voltage power distribution systems are fundamental for such an expansive development and will improve reliability, increase efficiency and enhance safety while our low-voltage electrical equipment will distribute, monitor and manage power throughout the vast development," stated Ackland.

"This contract further solidifies Eaton’s position as a provider of world-class products to major complexes in Kuwait and across the region," he added.
