Boskalis Westminster to Start Dredging Work at Bahrain Steel Project

Leading Dutch dredging group Boskalis Westminster Contracting is set to start dredging and reclamation work for a key project of Bahrain Steel Company.

The material dredged from the project site, located on the southeast of Bahrain Steel's plant, will be taken by trailing suction hopper dredgers, assisted by various auxiliary equipment and pumped through floating and submerged pipelines onto the reclamation sites, said Boskalis Westminster Contracting in its notification.

A major player in the region, Boskalis Westminster is a leading global maritime services company operating in the dredging and inland infra, and offshore energy sectors.

As part of the Bahrain Steel expansion project, Boskalis Westminster will also be transporting a 400-m steel pipeline from Busaiteen to the project site. The work has already begun and the transportation is completed.

The operation will be carried out by two tug boats and two fast escort vessels. On the Bahrain Steel work site, an additional crane barge will be involved in operations.
