Saudi’s Tarshid Plans $6.6bn in Energy Savings by 2030

Saudi Arabia’s National Energy Services Company (Tarshid) plans to reduce energy consumption in the kingdom by SR25bn ($6.6bn) by 2030.

The target was revealed by Waled Algheri, CEO of Tarshid.

“We are targeting integrated savings through the Saudi Energy Efficiency Program [SEEP], and in the public sector alone, we will be saving 8 terawatts and SR2.5 billion annually,”

Tarshid’s services include increasing efficiency of buildings through retrofitting, promoting the use of photovoltaic (PV) rooftop solar and installing energy efficient streetlighting.

Tarshid was established in March 2017 by the Public Investment Fund (PIF) to develop a robust energy efficiency sector in Saudi Arabia in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy.
