JSW Energy to Invest Rs 11,000 cr in Fresh Capacity

JSW Energy plans to become 10 GW (10,000 MW) company over medium term, with renewed focus on renewables for growth.

 

The company intends to build renewable capacity of about 1.1 GW to meet JSW Group’s renewable purchase obligations and has received letter of authorisation for 810 MW in the recently concluded Solar Energy Corporation of India’s (SECI) wind hybrid bid.

 

The company expects to tie up another 225-250 MW solar capacity soon. Further, it is also constructing 240 MW greenfield hydro project at Kutehr (Himachal Pradesh) and has already secured a sanction for project finance loan from a leading bank.

 

The company currently has capacity to produce 4,559 MW, including 3,158 MW of thermal, 1,391 MW hydel and 10 MW of solar.

 

The company will be investing about Rs 9,500-Rs 11,000 crore in setting up 1,800 MW capacity in the next two years.
