Iran: Olefin Unit of Bandar Imam Petchem Plant Fully Operational

Bandar Imam Petrochemical Plant has managed to operate its olefin unit at full production tilt by optimizing its feedstock intake and changing the arrangement of the unit’s furnaces.

According to the facility, the company minimized the unit’s energy intensity while optimizing productivity of the same unit in such a way that its output is over 90% of the intake. This is a record in production of the unit in recent years.

The main feedstock of Bandar Imam Petrochemical Plant is gas liquids (NGL) received from the National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC). After entering the complex and separating in the NF unit, this gas provides various products such as ethane and pentane, which are the main feedstock of the company's olefin unit.

Reduction in the feedstock received from NISOC and severe fluctuations in ethane shipments this year caused an imbalance and created challenges in the production of ethylene and other items produced at the olefin unit, but with the efforts of the company’s executives and experts and considering the unit's capabilities and alternative and available feedstock, ethylene production problems have been largely resolved.
