About Us:

Samsung Engineering provides EPC services to the gas, petrochemical, power, industrial and water industries. In October 2009, Samsung Engineering won a contract for the Fertil-2 ammonia/urea project to build what was at the time the largest plant of its type in the UAE. The project was awarded by Fertil, a joint venture between Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) of the UAE and TOTAL of France. As of late 2000, ADNOC planned a number of projects aiming to turn the country’s abundant natural resources into high value-added businesses. As part of the plan, Fertil was established with a 2:1 shareholding ratio (ADNOC/TOTAL). The Fertil-2 project, awarded by Fertil, is able to treat 2,000 MTPD of ammonia and 3,500 MTPD of urea a day. Samsung Engineering faced a challenge even before the project began as the project owner requested an increase from 400 T/d to 1,000 T/d in the volume of urea to be delivered for export by the transport system. A shutdown of the existing plant for no more than eight weeks was necessary to fulfill the owner’s request. Samsung Engineering accepted these daunting conditions with a bold spirit and was able to win the contract in the face of competition from other advanced EPC contractors. By successfully completing the Fertil-2 project, Samsung Engineering not only consolidated its standing in the fertilizer plant sector, but also won the trust of ADNOC, thereby laying a foundation to win more projects from the project owner, such as Shah gas and CBDC refinery projects.
