India: Centre Plans to Invest Rs. 51,000cr in Hydroelectric Power Projects in J&K

The Centre is planning to give a major thrust to hydroelectric power projects with a total investment of around Rs 51,000 crore.

 

After the government’s decision to come up with the Kwar Hydro Project, two more projects are in pipeline and the Power Ministry will soon seek Cabinet nod for the same.

 

The total investment in under construction hydro projects in Jammu and Kashmir stands at Rs 23,000 crore, with the latest decision to construct the Kwar Hydro Project. Apart from this, two more projects will be undertaken. It is in the final stages.

 

These two projects will add another 2,800 MW of capacity. The two projects would come with an additional investment of Rs 28,000 crore.
