Study Completed for Solar Parks at 200 Electricity Substations in Karnataka

The Energy Department has completed the feasibility study for solar parks to be set up in close to 200 electricity substations across Karnataka. The officials have also identified these stations based on the requirements and local conditions.

The Energy Minister K J George has approved the proposal and directed the officials to proceed with the implementation of the project. The project would enhance localized power generation leading to efficient fulfilment of energy needs for irrigation.

The project aims to decentralize power generation using renewable energy and minimize the load on the substations by utilizing the existing infrastructure better. Moreover, the power generated in these solar parks would help power the feeders which supply electricity to irrigation pump sets.
