NESR Wins $200mn Aramco Contract for KSA’s First DLE Project

Saudi Aramco has awarded National Energy Services Reunited Corp. (NESR) a contract to execute the 2027 Lithium Demonstration Project, marking the Kingdom’s first direct lithium extraction (DLE) project.

Under the agreement, NESR’s Environmental and Decarbonization Applications (NEDA) business segment will deliver the project on a turnkey basis using its LiThara™ platform, which integrates brine pre-treatment, direct lithium extraction and lithium carbonation technologies.

The contract has a term of up to five years and an approximate value of US$200 million.

The project is designed to produce up to 2,000 tonnes per annum (tpa) of battery-grade lithium carbonate, with commissioning and start of production targeted for late 2027.

The project combines Aramco’s extensive subsurface expertise and decades of exploration and field operating experience with NESR’s technology portfolio and regional experience in subsurface and field operations.

According to NESR, the project represents a significant step toward developing lithium production capabilities in Saudi Arabia and supporting the growing demand for battery materials associated with the global energy transition.
