OIL Announces Mechanical Completion of NSPL Upgrade

India Limited (OIL) has reached a significant milestone in its journey toward strengthening India’s energy security with the mechanical completion of the Numaligarh–Siliguri Product Pipeline (NSPL) upgradation project on October 12, 2025.

The upgraded pipeline will boost the transportation capacity from 1.77 Million Metric Tonnes Per Annum (MMTPA) to 5.5 MMTPA, marking a major step in enhancing the company’s midstream infrastructure. This expansion will support the increased product flow from the Numaligarh Refinery, ensuring a smoother and more efficient supply of petroleum products across the region.

This achievement aligns with the ongoing Numaligarh Refinery Expansion Project being implemented by Numaligarh Refinery Ltd. (NRL), which aims to triple the refinery’s capacity from 3.0 MMTPA to 9.0 MMTPA. Together, these initiatives reflect Oil India’s continued focus on strengthening energy infrastructure in India’s Northeast, a region critical to the country’s fuel supply chain.

The completion of this project not only reinforces OIL’s commitment to operational excellence but also plays a pivotal role in meeting India’s growing demand for petroleum products, supporting the nation’s long-term energy goals.
