Oxagon to Start Construction of Solar and Wind Factories in 2026

Oxagon, NEOM's industrial city, will begin construction of large-scale solar and wind power plants in 2026, creating thousands of jobs and marking the first wave of large-scale industrial employment in NEOM.

CEO Vishal Wanchoo confirmed this, emphasizing the goal of fostering economic growth. In addition to green hydrogen, Oxagon's primary focus is large-scale (multi-gigawatt) production of clean energy components and the deployment of battery storage systems to stabilize the grid.

The entire strategy is centered on sustainability, with the complete elimination of coal-fired assets and the use of green hydrogen as a backup system.

Oxagon, which is part-floating industrial complex and logistics hub (with the expansion of the NEOM Port planned by 2027), recently signed an agreement for a 1.5 gigawatt data and AI infrastructure campus, powered exclusively by renewable energy.
