APM Terminals Inks MoU to Develop Ports, Terminals in AP

APM Terminals has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Andhra Pradesh to invest USD one billion in developing modernized ports and terminals, marking a major milestone in strengthening India’s maritime infrastructure.

The initiative aligns with Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu’s vision of positioning Andhra Pradesh as the “logistics hub of the East.” The MoU focuses on building state-of-the-art terminals, modernizing ports to international standards, and deploying sustainable, low-emission technologies. A joint working committee with APM Terminals and APMB will be formed by Q3/2025 to ensure implementation.

APM Terminals, active in India since 2004, operates Gujarat Pipavav Port and Gateway Terminals India at JNPT. The investment is expected to create 8,000–10,000 employment opportunities and catalyze industrial and logistics growth.

CM Naidu has pledged to establish marine infrastructure—ports, fishing harbours, and landing centres every 50 km along the state’s 1,053 km coastline, creating a dense maritime network to boost trade and empower coastal communities. The state currently has five operational non-major ports and four greenfield ports set to be operational by 2026.
