Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant to Host 50 MW Floating Solar Plant

State run Nuclear Power Corp. of India Ltd (NPCIL) has approached Ciel & Terre for installing a floating solar power plant at its Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant (KKNPP 1&2) in the Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu.

The region selected is the sea water dyke. The sea water dyke is a shallow water reservoir in a nuclear power plant. Its purpose is separation of inlet water from hot water that exits after cooling the steam condenser.

Ciel & Terre has calculated the potential power generation at the site as around 50 MW.
