Gulf Cryo Expands its Liquid CO? Capacity to Support GCC Demand

Gulf Cryo, a Middle Eastern provider of liquid carbon dioxide (CO?), is set to significantly expand its regional production capacity from 700 metric tonnes per day (MTPD) to 1,300 MTPD by the end of 2026, equivalent to more than 470,000 tonnes annually.

The expansion is driven by long-term carbon capture and recovery projects across the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, aimed at strengthening supply reliability and meeting growing demand across multiple industries.

By the end of 2026, Gulf Cryo’s capacity is expected to reach 200 MTPD in the UAE, 750 MTPD in Saudi Arabia and 350 MTPD in Kuwait.

Its regional network will also support neighbouring GCC markets, including Qatar, Bahrain and Oman, particularly during periods of peak demand, plant maintenance or supply disruptions.

The company said its decentralized production model provides local supply in key markets while regional distribution adds resilience across the GCC.

Beyond the 1,300 MTPD secured for 2026, Gulf Cryo has access to an additional 750 MTPD of capacity from existing regional facilities.

This could be activated as demand increases, taking total available capacity beyond 2,000 MTPD, or approximately 750,000 tonnes annually.

The expansion strengthens Gulf Cryo’s position in the regional CO? market while supporting the availability of locally produced supply across the GCC.

“We have built our CO? supply capacity to meet local and regional demand today and secure future requirements,” said Sami Huneidi, Executive Committee Member responsible for Investments at Gulf Cryo. “As the region’s largest provider of liquid CO?, our strategy is to build strong local production capabilities while maintaining the flexibility and backup of our wider regional network.”

“We will continue to invest ahead of demand, leveraging our regional scale and operational efficiencies to provide customers across the GCC with a reliable and cost-efficient CO? supply,” he concluded.
