CONCOR, GAIL Sign Long-term Deal to Develop LNG Facility at ICD

Container Corporation of India (CONCOR) and GAIL (India) have entered into a long-term agreement to establish a state-of-the-art liquefied natural gas (LNG) dispensing station at CONCOR’s Inland Container Depot (ICD) in Khodiyar, Ahmedabad.

The partnership aims to accelerate the adoption of cleaner fuels in India’s heavy-duty commercial logistics sector and support the transition towards sustainable transportation. Under the 15-year agreement, GAIL will have exclusive operational control of the LNG facility and will invest in developing the retail LNG outlet infrastructure.

CONCOR will provide a dedicated land parcel of approx. 3,000 sq. mtrs. within its Ahmedabad terminal, along with required utility connectivity. To strengthen the commercial viability of the green corridor initiative, CONCOR will deploy a dedicated fleet of 15 LNG-powered commercial vehicles from the first year of the agreement. The multi-modal facility will operate round the clock and provide LNG fueling services to CONCOR’s logistics fleet as well as other commercial vehicles.

The initiative is expected to contribute to reducing emissions in freight transportation while promoting the use of alternative fuels and supporting India’s broader clean energy and sustainable mobility goals.
