Tata Power Keen to Explore InSTS Opportunities Under TBCB Framework

Tata Power is keen to pursue opportunities in the intrastate transmission system (InSTS) sector under the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) framework.

CEO and MD Dr. Praveer Sinha recently confirmed the company's interest in this space, highlighting the successful acquisition of the Ryapte project in Karnataka. This marks Tata Power’s third greenfield intrastate-TBCB venture, joining the Jalpura-Khurja project in Uttar Pradesh and the Jejuri-Hinjewadi project in Maharashtra. Implementation of the latter is already underway with major contracts awarded.

In the 2025-26 financial year, Tata Power achieved the full completion of two major interstate-TBCB schemes: South East UP Power Transmission Company (SEUPPTCL) and NRSSS-XXXVI. These projects, managed via Resurgent Power Ventures, added 1,823 ckm to the company's operational assets. Specifically, the SEUPPTCL completion is a landmark for Uttar Pradesh, introducing a robust network of 765kV and 400kV lines alongside significant substation capacity.

By leveraging the TBCB route, Tata Power continues to strengthen its role in enhancing regional power stability and expanding India’s electrical grid infrastructure through both state and national level projects.
