MSC Cruises Inaugurates Land Bridge Route in Saudi Arabia

MSC, a world leader in container shipping, has inaugurated a strategic route connecting Europe to the Middle East via Saudi Arabia, offering a crucial alternative to the Strait of Hormuz.

The new service combines maritime and land transport: ships from major European ports (such as Antwerp, Barcelona, and Gioia Tauro) dock at Jeddah and King Abdullah Port on the Red Sea. From there, cargo is transported by land to Dammam, before being distributed to Gulf countries via feeder vessels.

This initiative, which uses vessels with a capacity of up to 16,000 containers, aims to integrate supply chains and strengthen regional logistics connectivity.

The project aligns with the objectives of the Kingdom's National Transport and Logistics Strategy, consolidating Saudi Arabia's position as a global logistics hub capable of efficiently connecting three continents.
