McDermott Completes First Offshore Campaign for RIL's KG-D6 Subsea Field

McDermott International has successfully completed the first of two offshore campaigns for Reliance Industries' KG-D6 R-Cluster subsea field in the Krishna Godavari Basin off India’s east coast.

Using its derrick lay vessel, DLV 2000, McDermott carried out its first S-lay piggy-back pipelay, installing 18-inch and four-inch pipelines in water depths of approximately 4,265 ft. (1,300 mtrs). The campaign also involved laying six-inch lines, PLETs, and manifolds in waters reaching 6,300 ft. (1,920 mtrs.), alongside installing India’s longest dual riser. Other specialized vessels supported the complex subsea installation activities.

Ian Prescott, Senior Vice President for Asia Pacific, said, "The safe completion of season one activities, in the challenging offshore environments off the East Coast of India and mitigated disruptions from two cyclones, demonstrates McDermott's expertise in engineering and execution of complex subsea projects in ultra-deepwater depths." He added that the company will build on this success to complete the second campaign safely and with the highest quality. McDermott continues to expand in India with over 1,500 personnel supporting engineering, procurement, construction, and installation operations across multiple offices.
