India Adds Record 6.05 GW Wind Capacity in FY 2025-26 – MNRE

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) said India achieved its highest-ever annual wind capacity addition of 6.05 GW in FY 2025–26, surpassing the previous peak of 5.5 GW recorded in FY2016–17.

The ministry said the addition represents “an increase of nearly 46 percent over the capacity added in FY 2024–25,” signaling a faster pace of onshore wind deployment.

With the latest addition, India’s cumulative installed wind power capacity has crossed 56 GW. The ministry said the milestone reflects “renewed momentum in the sector driven by improved policy clarity, transmission readiness, competitive tariff discovery, and a strong project pipeline.
