Andhra Pradesh Govt. Approves Renewable Projects with 716 MW Capacity

The Andhra Pradesh government has approved two renewable energy projects with a combined capacity of 628 MW-540 MW solar in Anantapur and an 88 MW wind project in Kurnool, under the AP Integrated Clean Energy Policy, 2024.

The approvals were granted following technical and financial evaluation by the New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation of AP (NREDCAP). ReNew Vikram Shakti will develop the solar projects across six villages in Gooty and Pamidi mandals of Anantapur district, while JSW Neo Energy will set up the wind farm in Aspari, Kurnool district.

These projects aim to bolster the state’s renewable energy infrastructure, although the state retains the “right of first refusal” for up to 30 percent of the capacity, subject to tariff clearance by the State Electricity Regulatory Commission (SERC).

Developers will receive government or revenue land on a 30-year lease at Rs 31,000 per acre annually, with a five percent increase every two years. Land conversion charges are waived, and land will be treated as non-agricultural. Power evacuation will be managed by APTRANSCO, with infrastructure to be built by the developers themselves. Projects must be commissioned within 24 months.

Eligible developers may also avail of Central financial assistance without burdening the state exchequer. Multiple departments will coordinate to ensure smooth implementation.
