NLC India, APDCL to Develop 1,000 MW Solar Power Projects in Assam

NLC India's renewables subsidiary, NLC India Renewables (NIRL), has partnered with Assam Power Distribution Company (APDCL) to establish a joint venture for developing 1,000 MW of solar power projects in Assam.

NIRL will contribute its expertise in renewable energy project development, while APDCL will handle critical tasks such as land acquisition, regulatory approvals, and building power evacuation infrastructure. NIRL will hold a 51 percent stake in the venture, while APDCL will own the remaining 49 percent.

The partnership includes a 25-year power purchase agreement with Assam distribution companies to sell the entire generated power. This collaboration is expected to bolster Assam's energy security and foster socio-economic growth by generating employment and improving the state's sustainability index.

NIRL Chairman Prasanna Kumar Motupalli highlighted the significance of this initiative in meeting Assam's growing energy needs, ensuring affordable and reliable power supply, and advancing the state's long-term renewable energy goals.
