Arunachal Pradesh Boosts Small Hydropower Projects

Arunachal Pradesh has allocated a cumulative capacity of 570.75 MW across 35 operational small hydropower projects, attracting an estimated Rs 7,000 crore investment and generating local employment opportunities for 7,500 people.

Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein chaired a meeting with developers to review progress, reaffirming the state’s commitment to Atmanirbhar Arunachal and India’s net zero goals. He pledged government support while urging timely completion.

Commissioner Sonam Chombay highlighted that post-commissioning, the projects will generate Rs 58.25 crore per year in free power revenue. On the occasion, the Deputy CM felicitated Devi Energies Andhra Pradesh for Dikshi HEP (24MW) in West Kameng and Raajratna Energy Holdings for Khangtang HEP (7.5MW) in Tawang.
