KFAED Inks Bahrain Electricity Grid Loan

The Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) has signed a fourth loan worth $102mn for the development of Bahrain's electricity network.

The vehicle is part of a series of loans by the Kuwaiti fund to develop 400-kilovolt (kV) electricity transmission networks in Bahrain.

Kuwait, along with Saudi Arabia and the UAE, pledged $10bn in financial aid to Bahrain in 2018 to rescue the country from a potential debt crisis. Developing Bahrain's grid is essential as it expands its gas-fired and renewable energy installed capacity.
