NGEL, AP Government Signs Agreement to Develop Green Hydrogen Facility

NTPC arm NTPC Green Energy (NGEL) has signed an agreement with the government of Andhra Pradesh for the development of an integrated green hydrogen hub. The land lease agreement inked between NTPC Green Energy (NGEL) and Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) is for the project located near Pudimadaka village of Atchutapuram Mandal in Visakhapatnam.

 

The project includes construction of the country's largest green hydrogen production facility with 1,200 tpd capacity, which will be converted to derivatives of hydrogen such as green ammonia and green methanol, primarily for various export markets.

 

The hub aims to establish an ecosystem for technologies in the new energy paradigm, such as electrolyzer and fuel cell manufacturing, ancillaries industry, startup, incubation, testing facilities and production and export.

 

The power utility has a total installed capacity of 74 GW. NGEL is a wholly-owned subsidiary of NTPC with an operational capacity of over 3.4 GW and 26 GW in pipeline, including seven GW under implementation.
