Bahrain Works Ministry Supplies Solar Power for Walkways, Gardens and Beachfronts

The Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry has started supplying public gardens, beachfronts and walkways with solar energy.

“The project enables the ministry to slash power consumption by up to 15 per cent in such places, using LED lamps,” said Under-Secretary Shaikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Khalifa. The LED system is used to light up the Busaiteen beachfront project, which covers 43,000 sqm, including a 2km walkway.

The LED lighting system at Galali’s 700m-long walkway is also fully solar-powered, he said.

The Capital Municipality has also started installing solar-powered LED lamps in Jid Ali garden, in Shaikh Salman Square in Saar and at Ma’ameer coastline.

The Southern and Northern Municipalities have embarked on a project to use solar energy at gardens and beachfronts, including at the playground, walkway, volleyball stadium in A’ali, and a playground in Hamad Town.
