Piling Construction Works Completed at 2 GW Khulais Solar PV Project

The 2 GW Khulais Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Project in Saudi Arabia has completed all piling construction works, marking the transition to the installation of solar panel mounting structures and photovoltaic modules.

The $2.74 billion renewable energy project package was awarded to a Chinese consortium for EPC works, with the Khulais project expected to generate 5.97 billion kWh of electricity annually.

The EPC consortium comprises Energy China International, China Energy Engineering Group Guangdong Power Engineering Co., Ltd., and Northwest Electric Power Design Institute Co., Ltd. of China Power Engineering Consulting Group.

The completion of piling works clears the way for the next phase of construction, involving the installation of support structures and solar modules required for the large-scale photovoltaic facility.

The project is one of Saudi Arabia’s major renewable energy developments supporting the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 objectives to diversify its energy mix and accelerate the transition to clean energy.
