Bracewell Counsels Global Consortium in Key Qatar Renewables IPP Deal

Bracewell, a leader in assisting clients with all types of infrastructure projects, said it has acted as lead international counsel to a global investment consortium, comprising Siraj Energy, Marubeni Corporation and Total Solar, in helping them seal a major deal for the development and implementation of the first utility-scale renewables independent power project (IPP) in Qatar.

Located 80 km west of capital Doha, the 800.15 MW Al Kharsaah solar photovoltaic IPP will meet up to 10 per cent of Qatar’s peak electricity demand when the project reaches its total capacity, said a statement from Bracewell.

The power plant will help diversify Qatar’s energy generation resources and enable the country to host the first carbon-neutral FIFA World Cup in 2022, it stated.

The Bracewell lawyers involved in the transaction include Andrej Kormuth, Oliver Irwin, Clint Steyn and Tom Swarbrick (as partners) and Ade Mosuro, Bagyasree Nambron and Shayan Naji (associates).

Founded in Texas, US, in 1945, Bracewell is a specialist in key sectors such as energy, environmental strategies, financial restructuring, government, litigation, private investment funds and white collar defence.

It presently has offices in major US cities including New York, Washington, Seattle and Dallas and overseas offices in Dubai and London.
