India’s RIL Plans Jamnagar CDU Maintenance

Private-sector Indian refiner Reliance Industries (RIL) will shut one of the crude distillation units (CDUs) at its 1.36mn b/d Jamnagar complex next week for maintenance. The planned, routine maintenance work and inspections will last for 3-4 weeks.

RIL operates four CDUs at Jamnagar on India's west coast. The complex comprises a 660,000 b/d refinery that supplies the domestic market and a 704,000 b/d export-oriented plant. RIL declined to say which CDU will be shut.

India's biggest refiner, state-controlled IOC, is shutting its 300,000 b/d Paradip refinery for three weeks of maintenance in July-August.

Indian refinery runs have risen from lows during the country's nationwide Covid-19 lockdown that began at the end of March, but a surge in coronavirus cases has hit the recovery in fuel demand.
