The Public Authority for Housing Welfare signed three contracts to build and maintain 22 relay electrical stations (11132 kW), at a total cost of USD 210 million.
Two of the contracts envisage installing power plants at Al-Mutlaa City (residential district) and the third for building such stations in South Abdullah Al-Mubarak residential area.
The PWHW said in a statement that Al-Mutlaa contract envisages setting up nine main relay stations (11132 kW), for the sectors N11, N9 and N8, at a cost of KD 26.16 million (USD 86 million).
The second deal stipulates erecting, in Al-Mutlaa's sectors N10, N7 and N6, nine relay stations of identical capacity, at a cost of KD 26.16 million (USD 86 million).
The third one for South Abdullah Al-Mubarak district envisions building four relay stations of the same power for KD 11.7 million (USD 38.6 million).
The three contracts specify execution duration at 730 days (two years).
Badr Al-Wugayyan, the PWHW Director General, following the inking, examined works at Al-Mutlaa. Accompanied by other officials, he also visited the other work sites, urging for speedy work.
An agreement was reached that the contractor would present a timetable for executing the projects. He will also present a work plan in January 2019, mentioning an increase in number of workers that would come from abroad and amounts of equipment and supplies that would be imported to speed up the works.
