Reliance Power Plans Rs 4,000cr Capex Expenditure to Install FGD Units

Reliance Power has planned a capital expenditure of Rs 4,000 crore to install flue-gas desulfurisation (FGD) units across its coal-based power plants. As part of its strategy to achieve clean green power, the company will focus on solar and wind energy projects, apart from looking at opportunities in waste to power generation in terms of biomass and biofuels.

The company will grow its clean energy portfolio with solar, wind, bio-mass, bio-gas and waste-to-energy in the renewable energy space. It has signed the power purchase agreement (PPA) and gas supply agreements for the 750 MW gas-based generation plant in Bangladesh with a capital outlay of over Rs 5,000 crore.

The company is building on the momentum of Phase-I development, later it will focus on the development of Phase-II of 1,500 MW in line with the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed for development of 3,000 MW gas-based projects.

Reliance Power has an operating capacity of 6,000 MW operating at a plant load factor of 80 percent.
