Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) got a nod for laying underground pipeline for supply of gas to domestic, industrial or commercial premises and CNG stations within the limits of Chas Municipal Corporation (CMC) area. “We have got the nod from CMC and very soon underground pipeline laying work will be started,” said Ravi Choudhary Manager IOCL. “CMC Additional Municipal Commissioner Sashi Prakash Jha and Mayor Bholu Paswan have been granted permission for pipeline work,” he added.
We are at work for door-to-door supply of domestic gas through pipelines across the municipal corporation area. It would be cheaper for the users in comparison to cylinder filled gas, he said. “Survey will be started from Monday, but pipe laying work will not be done in those streets having a width less than 10 feet,” he added.
For this City Gas Distribution (CGD) project a gas stock station or depot is proposed at Sindurpeti at Bidhibinor village. From this station gas would be supplied door-to-door to the consumers as well as Petrol pumps, he said. Additional Municipal Commissioner CMC, Sashi Prakash Jha said, IOCL has been given approval for a CGD network for supply of gas to domestic, industrial or commercial premises.
“In order to lay the pipelines if the road or the drain got damaged then IOCL will have to repair it within 48 hours,” added Jha. Notably, Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) is also at work for laying the pipelines for the City Gas Distribution Project (CGD), a part of Jamshedpur-Haldia and Bokaro-Dharma Pipeline (JHBDPL) which is also known as Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga Project, informed an official.
The 2655 km long JHBDPL project with an estimated to cost Rs 510 billion was inaugurated in July 2015 by the PM Modi, passed through Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Odisha, he said. Around 500km of the pipeline is scheduled to be passed through Jharkhand from Bokaro, Giridih, Hazaribagh, Ranchi and Dhanbad, Jamshedpur from where it would be linked to Rourkela in Odisha.
CGD will provide clean fuel to the household, transportation and other commercial sectors in east India. There is the plan to supply cooking gas directly at homes in Bokaro, Jamshedpur and Ranchi in Jharkhand, informed the official. The pipeline is under construction and likely to be commissioned by the end of 2019, he said.
