South Pars Refinery ‘Phase 19’ Boosts Propane, Butane Output

The CEO of Petropars Operation and Management Company (POMC) said production of propane and butane in the South Pars Phase 19 refinery increased with the commissioning of all refrigeration compressors of propane and butane units.

According to Petropars Group, Amir Shahram Zaman stated that the assembly and preparation of refrigeration compressors was done for the first time by the company's specialists, adding: "Previously, foreign specialists and companies assembled and prepared these compressors."

He stressed the importance of increasing the production of propane and butane gases: “These gases have a high temperature when transferred to storage tanks, and with the use of refrigeration compressors, the temperature of these gases is reduced to prevent evaporation and their full capacity is used.”

The purpose of Phase 19 South Pars Project is to produce 56.6 million cubic meters of rich gas, 75,000 barrels of gas condensate, 400 tons of sulfur per day and also produce 1.05 tons of liquefied petroleum gas (propane and butane) and one million tons of ethane annually to feed petrochemical units.
