Saudi’s APC Receives Approval for New Petchem Complex in Jubail

Advanced Petrochemical Company (APC) has received approval for a new petrochemical complex at Jubail Industrial City in Saudi Arabia.

 

The new complex is expected to annually produce 1.15 million tonnes of ethylene, 850,000 tonnes of propylene and 400,000 tonnes of aromatics and fuels, and their derivatives, the company said in a filing to the Saudi bourse, Tadawul.

 

The new complex is expected to be operational by Q4 2025.

 

The company’s subsidiary Advanced Global Investment Company (AGIC) received approval from the Ministry of Energy to allocate the feedstock needed for the project.

 

The company previously announced plans to start building a new propane dehydrogenation (PDH) unit and a polypropylene (PP) plant in Al Jubail this year, with commercial operations scheduled in the second half of 2024.

 

The planned PDH plant will be able to produce annual 843,000 tonnes of propylene, while the PP plant will have an 800,000 tonnes per year capacity.

 

Commercial operations are expected in the second half of 2024.
