Project Scope

The project scope involves developing Jurassic Production Facilities (JPF). It will process gas from Kuwait’s Jurassic fields in the Middle Marrat reservoir.

The scope of work will include sour gas processing facilities, a sulphur recovery unit and associated facilities and transmission infrastructure.

It will also include a water treatment unit. The hydrocarbons will be produced from sour and wet reservoir fluids from the north Kuwait Jurassic fields.

The project packages might be a partial or full retender of the KOC's Jurassic Gas Facility Phase 1 project, which was tendered in September 2017 and officially cancelled in December. It was then scheduled to be completed in 2021.

The value of the Jurassic Gas Facility Phase 1 project was estimated at $3.6 billion, with a scope including a central processing facility (CPF), offsite facilities, and a pipeline gathering system.

The project's CPF was planned to have the capacity to process 590 million cubic feet a day (cf/d) of gas, 220,000 barrels per day (bpd) of oil and 1,200 tons a day of sulphur.

The project aimed at meeting Kuwait’s growing gas demand and to implement the government's plans to produce more than 4 billion cf/d of natural gas by 2030.
